Most problems don’t need an on-site visit — a one-time secure remote session makes it faster, cheaper and more convenient to find a solution to your problem.

Things that can be fixed remotely:

Email not sending, or not arriving
Cloud account syncing issues
Basic diagnosis of weird app behavior
Resolving backup issues
Quickly eyeballing ~/Library for malware
High CPU/GPU usage w/ fans running hot

Minimum 30 minutes for one-off sessions. If it can be fixed over the wire, everyone wins.

Onsite, In-Person Tech Support

Sometimes you need someone to come and sort things out in-person.

Onsite tech support is for the jobs that need a hands-on approach:

Migrating from old hardware to new
Improving network performance & WiFi signal strength in challenging environments
In-person hardware troubleshooting on all Mac models
Streamlining data management – managing the chaos
Backups – local and cloud
Audits – equipment, accounts, anything else
Setup of peripherals like printers, scanners, displays, etc.

I can do much more with my time in person, as opposed to remotely, so if you have lots to do it makes sense to do an onsite.

Keeping everything consistent across devices is the dream. Untangling account knots is something I find strangely satisfying. By approaching each part of the issue as quietly as possible, we can sneak up behind and surprise each problem before it’s even aware. Thereby disentangling the discombobulation that somehow just managed to appear of its own volition, over time.

Passwords & Online Security

Your password situation very likely needs attention.

The usual way people come unstuck online is by using one password — or small variations of that one password — as a seed for all their online accounts. By using small variations from a seed password, one can create a ‘blurry mess’; impossible for the brain to remember which small variation applies to which account. Separate, fun, bright, memorable words with numbers and special characters are a much better framework.
